The Absolute Universe has been one of the most exciting things to happen to superhero comics in years.
Scott Snyder, Jeff Lemire, Jason Aaron, Kelly Thompson, Nick Dragotta: These are writers and artists whose creator-owned work I've been following for a long time, long before they were reinventing Batman and Superman for DC.
What I love about this bundle is the story it tells. Every one of these creators built their reputation doing exactly what comics does best: original, creator-owned work where they answer to nobody but themselves and their readers. East of West, Gideon Falls, Southern Bastards, Black Cloak, and the rest aren't warm-up acts. These are the books that made DC want to hand these people the keys.
